  1. Alternative to Rtape

This stuff is hard to find, and comes in odd sizes (like no 30"). I see Grimco has it, do you have any other sources you use for it?
  2. Impact modified acrylic for sign faces? And maybe formed faces?

FYI - Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB) is what Gemini uses for their formed plastic lettering
  3. Adding dimension to dimensional letters in proof - Program or technique?

We have started using Fusion360 recently. One of my employees picked it up pretty quickly with no previous 3D software experience. There is some time investment, but IMO it is well worth it especially for higher dollar projects.
  4. Need Help Reflective sheet printing

Reflective can be a really rigid vinyl to print on. Most of the time we print to clear vinyl and mount on top.
  5. Impact modified acrylic for sign faces? And maybe formed faces?

I always thought engraving plastics were ABS, and that was why they were so expensive. Looks like only a couple of Rowmark's are ABS, the rest are impact modified acrylic. I agree with JBurton that "impact modified acrylic" is likely a broad category. Duets ADA plastic is a much more rigid...
  6. Adhesive mural for stone pebble wall

Is putting an adhesive mural on a wall like this feasible for long term durability? What materials do you recommend? Wall is about 10ft x 19ft. Mural does not need to completely conform to wall surface. Stretched banner or SEG fabric will not work well since there is ductwork and other...
  7. Question Is there an action, software, plugin etc to automatically add dims to a image?

+1 for O2 Powerscripts - I use the Dimensions and Step and Repeat often
  8. Any UV Equipment out of Warranty?

Feedback on what? I have never purchased extended warranties on our printers. We just pay for service as we need it. I've saved 10's of thousands of dollars over the years.
  9. Need Help HELP: Roland sold me a defective printer and I lost $750,000

It is heartbreaking to invest so much time and money to trying to make a machine work well when it is just not a good fit for what you are trying to do. I bought a Colorspan UV printer years ago that was a terrible fit for what we were trying to accomplish. I took a huge hit when we unloaded...
  10. Material choices....

I had the same thought when I read this article. It kinda stressed me to think about all that color and panel alignment. I agree a better long term solution would be to paint the red and do vinyl decals for the graphic pieces. We have done this before and it holds up really well. I am not a sign...
  11. Contractor Woes - If its not in my quote am I liable for it?

It's because of this monkey business, that I make every effort to reach out to the client directly and persuade them to hire us directly. It's a win-win. Contractors don't care, signs are just a thorn in their side. It will only work for certain cases, but I have done a number of projects...
  12. Suggestions Plastic Table Throws?

Showdown Displays - vinyl table covers can be wiped down
  13. Stucco finish on aluminum panels

Matthew's paint has a sand texture or something like that as an additive. I haven't actually used it, but I think it looked similar to a drivit finish.
  14. Coroplast for Sign Face

3mm ACM is 0.81lb per sf 3/16" acrylic is 1.07lb per sf There is no reason ACM can't be used in a cabinet sign.
  15. Installing signs without a permit

That is frustrating. I have had the same happen a number of times. I was caught a couple of times in the past trying to skate by on simpler projects without getting a permit. Not any more. The municipalities were forgiving the one time, I doubt they will again. It's just not worth the risk...
  16. What's worse than covid-19? Customers not paying.

Look into doing a lien on the property. It's not very nice, but if they are not communicating, you have to survive. We did one about a year ago. We didn't end up even actually doing the lien. A letter from a lawyer threatening to do so got the job done. There's a time frame, like ninety days, so...
  17. Vendor for inexpensive (coro?) POP displays?

I am assuming you mean some type of free-standing coro POP display. Most wholesalers, like FireSprint, can print and cut this for you, but you will need to provide the artwork. That is the tricky part, where you can waste all kinds of time trying to come up with it. I would recommend just...
  18. Question Which Laser Should I Buy?

Since you are running a laser, why not cut the applique lettering on it as well? Seems that would be a lot faster and more consistent color-wise. We have a Vision 16x24 for ADA signs. You could get one of those for just doing the Braille. Trotec is the Cadillac - if you have the budget, you...
  19. Vision vs Gravograph Engraving Machines

We have the Vision 16x24. We are happy with it overall. It seems it can be a little finicky getting the depth just right on the applique sometimes (I am not an operator though). When we have a higher end backer for the sign (brushed aluminum, etc), I have a colleague laser cut the applique...
