Aluminum Composite Panel, well known brand Dibond, but many versions and qualities available. Can be cut with regular "woodworking" tools, or sheet metal tools. Straight edges can also be scored & snapped on the 3mm or thinner
Yea, I'm thinking the same as Gino. It looks like a folded aluminum pan, with a 2" or more frame. We would probably make it with doubled up 1"x1" aluminum tube. You would need to have a sheet metal shop bend the face for you.
There should be no problem painting prefinished white aluminum. Scuff lightly with a fine pad or wet sand, clean & paint with a good oil base enamel (or acrylic polyurethane if you can).
