do you have 'profiles on' or 'profiles off'? You want profiles off to do what you're attempting. But overall you will want to print with 'profiles on.' Thus the conundrum...
We print/cut 1105ezrs with 1460 and 1060 lam on a regular basis. The air-egress vinyls to not weed great compared to standard vinyls. This combo may weed better than the 3165 ra given the thickness. You may have to test with your plotter. Different plotters can make a difference as well...

You may have to call Gerber. You also may have to get windows 10 installed. but... given it's 2.5 (not sure what year that came out) it could be an issue with OS. You might have to try your XP machine.
i may not be understanding correctly, but make sure your pinch wheels are all in the correct place. On our printer (S70670), if the farthest outside pinch wheels( for printing white) move at all out of place we get a media load error.
VHB is really what is called for here. The #468mp works great for it's intended purpose. I believe you have a high percentage chance that you will have failure. (letters falling off the wall).
roll or sheet
Are you cutting off a roll (or sheet) that is longer than 84"? Not trying to be a jerk, just making sure that the vinyl you have loaded is large enough to load and still fit what you are trying to cut. The plotter will "use-up" a certain amount of a sheet if that is what you loaded.
