  1. Light streaks on print media

It appears you're running a Mutoh of some sort, correct? If it was a head strike, you'd more than likely see ink in those places. Give it a good cleaning just in case it was- but also clean your pinch rollers (do not use solvent- use IPA and wipe them, do not soak because they're pricey) because...
  2. Wrap Install Questions

Somewhere I used to have a quickie "formula" to figure out pricing. Example: It took XX minutes per square foot to clean, align, apply, remove masking (cut vinyl) and do any post heat. It almost always gave me a good starting point to go with that I could add or subtract from, depending on the...
  3. Installing 4x4 sign Posts

You're probably going to get both views on this (for and against)- but I'll cast the first vote: Use a bag for each post. Better safe than have to waste time putting it up again for free if someone- or nature- knocks it down. Just make sure the customer spots where it's going so you can recharge...
  4. Router Question

As others said, looks like nodes. I would think cleaning up the artwork would correct most of those problems. Having a vacuum hold-down would correct a lot more of them that might pop up. If that table doesn't have one, I'd highly recommend one.
  5. Gravograph IS 8000

I think it's a good engraver, but- as rossmosh pointed out- they aren't really considered routers, and you're going to need to make a lot more passes to cut. In my experience with engraving tables (including a Gravograph), you need two passes to cut 1/8" acrylic, so...
  6. Question Graphtec Sizing/cutting Help

My wild guess is that the program is sending the wrong code to the plotter. Make sure whatever the plotter wants (HPGL or whatever- you should be able to check from the plotter's setup menu) is what the program is sending (which you should be able to check from its set up).
  7. Large Pounce machine?

It works very well, actually. To add to Wayne's suggestion- most plotters have a "Pounce" setting and yes, it's a heck of a lot easier than doing a bunch of patterns by hand. Your big decision (if you don't already have a plotter) will be which one to get.
  8. Need Help .060 non-glare

EDIT: I just saw the size requirement... \Acrylite actually does have it... finding a dealer may be a different story... https://www.acrylite-shop.com/pdfs/us/framing-glazing-acrylic-acrylite.pdf
  9. Need Help Design help with my new ride

New Member is right there under your name and your "date joined" is listed as February 1, 2017, so... I'm inclined to disagree.
  10. Why is my laminate buckling?

I'm guessing it's the paper that's buckling. Maybe tack one end to a table nice and flat and hold taught. Of course, running through the laminator is a different story. I always tried to get it nice and flat on my media, then making sure the feed roll was squared and the "nuts" that held the...
  11. Lining up graphics on window

The eyeball test is usually best for this. That, or find a "dominant" line (could be molding, pinstripes, something) and compare to your graphic. Since your eye is follow that line, having the graphics line up with it is normally a safe bet (though I had one customer insist I install their...
  12. Trailer vinyl for 32 foot trailer

If it's cut vinyl, you're probably fine using Oracal's 651 line for that length of time. Read Oracal's warranty on the product and come up with your own variant on it- then have the customer sign it so they understand exactly what they're getting. If it's a print job, use cast.
  13. Grainy Colors

You don't mention specifically what machine you have, but yeah- that's pretty normal for a four-color machine. They really don't look that bad.
  14. Help converting .fs file

To a customer who has apparently paid for the artwork? (I'm assuming this, because if the customer hadn't paid for it, they wouldn't be getting any file from me.) I agree that there are plenty of unscrupulous people in this (any) business, but if I paid for something with the expectation of...
  15. Help converting .fs file

VanderJ is correct- only SAI (Flexi) programs will open Flexi files. Glad someone can help you out. I have an older version of Flexi, so I could give it a shot if needed. Also, not exactly a response to your question- but what kind of jackass "designer" would give a customer a logo file (I'm...
  16. Looking for some critique

    - Since you asked, I'd change that font on Hillside Terrace. - Consider a different font for "Mobile Home Park" and correct the kerning. - Your colors (on the mountains) are going to be tough to see on a white background, so keep that in mind. My .02.
  17. Question Having Trouble BIG TROUBLE Cutting Window Perf Solvex 50/50

I've cut window perf on a Graphtec and a Mimaki. I'd suggest trying a piece of masking tape (as close to white as you can find) along your cutting strip, where your reader is. I think it might help the plotter find the cut marks.
  18. Anybody Using Time Clocks

Use a spreadsheet to do it for you. Google Docs has them if you want to keep it where you can look at it everywhere- or use Excel or OpenOffice or Apple Numbers to do it. You can set up a formula to automatically calculate the hours for the day, week, etc. I think, in the OP's place, the...
  19. Who Else Has Horror Story

Remember when calls to Feller's didn't involve that annoying music and Frank's equally annoying voice? And their promise to answer in less than 90 seconds?
  20. Warning For Those Accessing Internet With Windows.
