not sure what the law or regulation on this is but we do a ton of military work and most drawings spec 3m adhesive. the drawings are also from the 70's . doesn't matter much we use the 3m adhsive and charge for it. also some of the drawings actually spec the companies approved to do the jobs
on the roland inks our vendors have said the solvent will hold up longer outdoors but we have only had our uv printer for alittle over a year so don't know for sure. i bet the difference in price is uv print isn't laminated. is the customer comparing apples to apples.
static cling is always an issue but on my rolands i have gotten the best results using the clear calandered vinyl setting and high quality setting. sometimes i have used the max density but only as a last resort because it takes longer to dry and out gas.
On the other hand, for those who say about it costing you $50 or $100 just to fire up the machine or whatever your reason may be...... isn't your machine[s] up and running consistently already ?? Ours go on and are running almost 10 hours straight on most days. Therefore, that excuse won't hold...
our minimum is $75 but if a regular customer needs something we will adjust it to do them a favor. i think like mentioned earlier it's hard to go less than $40 or $50 because even the smallest job will take you 30-45min from start to finish (art,set up, print, lam and cut)

i import it to illustrator and re-save it as a pdf and send it back. it sounds crazy but this way they can firm nothing got altered when i imported it(no fonts changed, no hidden layers) no excuses when they get the job if there is something wrong
last 3 times i used perf it failed and had to replace but i haven't tried the clear focus. i will be using that next time. one thing i did learn is if you don't use good lam that is meant for the window perf that will cause failure as well, i assume from the shrinkage. (it pulls and causes it to...
