  1. Anyone having trouble with GotPrint.com today?

I use them a lot. At first I would try exporting in CMYK and the colors looked like crap and I would have to tweak them. When I sent an eps they did not combine it so on the proof all the centers of the letters (like an O) were filled in. I started sending just a regular RGB jpg sized to their...
  2. Sign for Massage Therapist, critique please

I just had to put a tree on a hair salon sign, and it went against everything I ever knew (along with everything else on the sign including the fonts) I tried to steer the client into something more appropriate but in the end I just let her have what she wanted and I will never show the photos...
  3. Cutting alupanel or dibond with vinyl on top

Seems like it would be easier all around to just paint the letters after they are cut. Love....Jill
  4. Needing Fire Apparatus "Ornaments"

If you want to do your own, sketch it out with a pencil, you may need a French curve. Once you get it the way you like it, ink it in with a rapidograph. If your rapidograph is dried up (like mine) you can use a good quality fine point marker. Scan it, import it onto your design program, and...
  5. Happy Birthday Fred!

:loveya: Happy birthday! Have a wonderful day. :thankyou: Love....Jill
  6. Needing Fire Apparatus "Ornaments"

Print it out as big as you can on paper, tape it to a window, put another piece of paper over it and trace it with a Sharpie, then scan it, import it into your design program, and clean it up. Love....Jill
  7. Best way to tackle this job?

You could also offer the alternative of just running a line of lettering down that straight part at the bottom, it's at about eye level. Love....Jill
  8. My new little project

Congratulations! He is so cute! Now I want one. Love....Jill
  9. Anyone else just totally slammed right now?

I have been insanely busy since February. :Big Laugh I used to do about two logos a year I have been doing like one a week, plus a ton of painted signs and other stuff. Agreed about the last minute people, I have had to turn a few away as I am just one person and there are not enough hours in...
  10. Sign for Massage Therapist, critique please

As long as you learn from it I don't care...just buy the font. The font I used for my subcopy was LHF Stevens Percepta.
  11. Sign for Massage Therapist, critique please

NO to the curved text. It's too close to the edge. Keep your elements together and don't let the shape dictate your copy.
  12. Logo help please

As my 87 year old mom's best friend, who is 88 would say "big nose- long hose" They are just clip art suggestions.
  13. Logo help please

Here's a quickie suggestion (just modified clip art for the pops) I used Square Meal for the name (modified) and broke up the wording so maybe it reads better. Pops my gosh reminds me of someone having a solo big O or squeezing a zit. The tagline is Pupcat. Thought it suggested maybe the pops...
  14. Logo help please

That's the name? Seriously? What a goofy name (sorry I know it's not your fault) There are too many angles for starters, you need something straight in there. Fonts are icky and the one for the tagline looks really weak. Too many colors, too.
  15. Sign for Massage Therapist, critique please

It's too late at night for me to post a suggestion, but what I will say is that you need to tighten up your elements. Massage and Therapy have too much space between them, and your lines of copy do as well. Your layouts are full of holes, and you are breaking a few design rules. Such as...
  16. Cutting Sandblast Rubber-Making Pounce Patterns

I agree, Rick, you are going to have to get a Gerber. These newer plotters just don't do what the Gerber does. I wish mine still worked, I hate using a pounce wheel. Love....Jill
  17. Geminis new catalog is freakin awesome

I got it in the mail the other day but did not take a look. I have sold Gemini letters FOUR times in 28 years. :Big Laugh Love....Jill
  18. Logo help please

I like it, but something in your outline (in Mania's first "a") looks really wonky. I'd make the pop and the word both have a black outline, (the PopMania in white with a black outline I mean) and use a lighter purple drop shadow. I don't like the brown on the pop it looks icky and has no...
  19. Name that font...

    Neuropol? (just a guess) Love....Jill
  20. New Design...Thoughts?

I think it would look a lot better with a different main font. Everything doesn't need to be so literal (meaning the font) it seems kind of corny to me. I like the icons and the colors especially. Love....Jill
