  1. A special on select Corel products is going on right now for Adobe users.

If you are thinking about making the switch to CorelDRAW from Adobe CS4 or later, or maybe just adding one of these Corel Products to your software collection. Corel has a special going on. Thought I would share...
  2. Need a Retro Font for lettering a Vintage 1950s Studebaker Pick-up...

If you really want to make it appear vintage, I would recommend a basic sanserif style lettering... Perhaps on an arch. Many old work trucks were lettered this way. They were basic. Heck having a drop shadow on them was considered an upgrade in those days. Really vinyl is going to kill the...
  3. Who is at fault....................??

Well to be fair, you did ask for opinions on the matter. (also I think the correct phrase is "Monday morning quarterback") Sounds like you already know the answer to your own riddle. "who is at fault" What do you need us for?
  4. Fair Price or Rip Off?

It goes back to this (your) comment: "With this strategy, you're saying you can't produce anything for less than maybe $2,275 US an hour ??" He could produce something for less than that if he can produce things faster or more of those things in an hour. That's dependent on the scope of his...
  5. Fair Price or Rip Off?

It all has to do with means of production. So a larger shop may have more employees or better equipment allowing them to produce much more during a given hour, however those additional employees and equipment cost more too. So a larger shop might need to make more an hour to stay profitable...
  6. Fair Price or Rip Off?

He said:" It costs me $650/hr to have shop open" not "his cost is $650 an hour" There is a difference. He didn't say how big his shop was. Depending on how many employees he has and other factors the cost for labor could vary.
  7. Fair Price or Rip Off?

Where did you get that from what he said?
  8. Dealing with literally crazy people

"We are really busy right now. Would you like to make an appointment? we have an $___per hour consultation fee."
  9. Taking Bets

Nothing wrong with that though. Unless you have a problem with the stars in stripes. Since the vast majority of people in the heartland here are pro USA, I think he'll be safe. It's no worst than picking your favorite sports team's colors, which probably happens more often at our shop. This...
  10. Taking Bets

If you are talking about the first layout.... none taken. I don't think the 2nd one is terrible though, it does incorporate most of his ideas in the best way I could think up. Is it my favorite logo I've ever seen? No. Is it terrible? No.
  11. Taking Bets

He loved them both. He was super happy and cut a check for the final payment then scheduled his truck and we discussed shirt layouts. He wants to have both designs on disk but so far we only discussed using the 2nd improved design on his trucks, shirts, hats etc. The only change we made was...
  12. Taking Bets

A customer stopped in. He brought in his logo idea drawn out on a paper plate. He wanted it just like that, and told me what colors he wanted. He's paid for the full logo treatment, and since it didn't take too long to draw up his idea exactly how he wanted it, I thought I would also do...
  13. New Diaz Sign Art site.

Yeah, the main site didn't display all that great on mobile devices. We also found in the analytics for our old site, that there was a very high bounce rate for visitors on mobile devices. You could zoom in to read the text but I feel like the standard desktop website makes a terrible mobile...
  14. Artwork Copyright Question

I think the other sign shop is in the wrong here. Regardless of whether or not you were paid up front or some kind of sketch fee or down payment (which I would recommend), the other shop still used the art you spent time creating to bid against you, when it clearly states you are the owner of...
  15. Steampunk!

I bet you some of that will go to pay for that commercial.
  16. New Diaz Sign Art site.

I'm not quite sure exactly what you are talking about. I just tested it on Mac OSX Lion and Mountain Lion (roar!!!) on Firefox 16 -19 and it displays the way it's supposed to. Hmmm? If you have time can you explain what you are seeing or maybe PM me. If you have time. Thanks...
  17. New Diaz Sign Art site.

Made some improvements so that it works a bit better on the ipad. God I hate iOS Safari. I might hate it just as much as IE. :omg: I know I know, that's really bad. :Big Laugh
  18. Steampunk!

I'd be disappointed if I got that watch and found out that there is no tiny gear universe living inside. :noway::Big Laugh Cool video.
  19. New Diaz Sign Art site.

Thanks, Yeah I know we're working on it.
  20. New Diaz Sign Art site.

Here's the snapping effect like what I think Pat is talking about. I'm just struggling to get it to work. http://robspangler.com/blog/snappoint-jquery-plugin/ I'd really like it to work like this site: http://community.saucony.com/kinvara3/ Not sure if any of our fellow 101ers are JQuery...
