  1. JV3 160sp (So many problems)

Post a photo of the test print & we'll go from there. There has to be a leak in the air line somewhere to get bubbles in it, so you'll have to figure out where that is coming from first. After that, you're probably looking at replacing the magenta head and possibly others. woohoo!
  2. How to dispose/recycle old printer

If you have a local makerspace, they may be interested in taking it off of your hands for the components inside. As you probably well know, many of the components inside are very costly to purchase individually and could be recycled into useful parts for 3d printers and other student projects.
  3. Onyx 10.1 for Windows 10

We use onyx 11 with win7 and on thing we have to look out for is radial gradients. Not sure what the problem is, but radial gradients can cause major printing issues with the rip.
  4. Reflective Colors

I would bet that they were possibly screen printed before, and some of the colors may no longer be available. I would suggest using a Gerber Edge to print these; most of the colors are available as transparent colors and the ones that aren't could be reproduced with screening the solid color or...
  5. Suggestion for reflective install

Print all the colors on IJ680CR. That is what you need to do in this instance. It'll make the install a breeze and unless you're REALLY bad at installs it wont bruise either. Never do reflective wet.
  6. Creases/Marks in Laminate

Looks like a lot of tension and also a LOT of humidity in that room.
  7. JV3 Ink Starvation

Sounds like new dampers/o-rings are in order. Hopefully that'll fix it.
  8. Separate cutting carriage from print-head carriage

you are correct, just pull them apart.
  9. latex vs. solvent

Keep your eyes open for deals, many different brands are currently running sales. If you're interested in saving money most of your distributors also have slightly used models available also. (lease returns or demo units) Personally, I still don't really like the HP latex here as far as...
  10. Gerber EnVision 375 cuts inconsistently

Did you try other rolls of vinyl? I have had rolls of inconsistent thickness cause issues like this.
  11. Pointy Banners

if you're using regular 13oz, you're going to have to hem them all the way around for added weight/support. I would suggest using an anti-curl or more heavyweight banner material for these.
  12. 3M "Micro Comply" vinyl?

I can use Google; but I thought that the people who might have seen a real life sneak peek or know what the difference to our businesses was going to be would be here on Signs101.
  13. Question on laminate for decals help me figure out what this stuff is!

I think it is made by Convex / Pro Shield. this stuff https://www.hyatts.com/sign/convex-pro-shield-laminate-3.3936
  14. Free Stuff For Y'all

Thanks, I actually had one of these on my "to draw" list. I'll just go off my measurements and adjust to fit his truck.
  15. Cutting software? Omega? Flexi? Corel?

We use Omega for all of our plotters except for when Onyx controls the print/cut files. I think it works great.
  16. 3M "Micro Comply" vinyl?

I was informed yesterday that all of the 3M 180C vinyls are getting ready to be switched over from "Comply" to their new "Micro Comply" adhesive.... and that the new vinyl colors might be "slightly different"??? They said there are no more air egress channels and that the adhesive is now...
  17. Free Stuff For Y'all

Club Car Golf Cart template, 1/10 scale. Free for users of Signs101.
  18. Looking for edge safe carbon fiber material

These look like they're solvent printed to me. I would do them as solvent or latex prints personally. Avery sells some specialty films (100 series), but I am not sure if they're available in 15" punched. We have converted some specialty color films here into strips, and then laminated them onto...
  19. Magnets on aluminum vehicles

You must be doing something wrong or else you have a major humidity problem. We run rolls and rolls of phototex here w/o issues. We had a roll separate from the backing/ripple for the first few feet after being stuck in a corner for a year once, but it was near where there was a leak under a...
  20. SP540V Encoder strip flip

Top to bottom, you'll probably have to put a tiny hole in it with an exacto to have it fit. Take it out and CLEAN it well and you should be good to go again. Also; the eye that reads the encoder strip isn't that hard to get out and clean either; I've had it be the cause of problems more than...
