  1. Summa blade wont move up and down,

What's the error message? Generally these things are bulletproof; with the machine on, can you manually move the knife? What about with the machine off? If you can move it with it off but not on, then yes, it's probably the head. If the coil was hanging you might still be able to move it a fraction.
  2. Real Gold Lettering for Firetruck? Help!

Any gold metallic "regular" vinyl will eventually turn color over time. Talk them into the printable SignGold - both you and the FC won't be disappointed.
  3. I really don't know what to think about this.

Is it just you in the shop or are there other people involved? It doesn't matter whether you know the owner "well enough to know" - it's strictly a business decision on both your parts. Either he gives you a reasonable price for the equipment and client list (like Marlene suggested, get it...
  4. Large propane tank - vinyl graphics

Heat gun if you need it. I would figure this time of year in Texas would be hot enough to just Rollie-pro it.
  5. Large propane tank - vinyl graphics

No issues. I, too, did a tank last year with FDC's 2100 series. No problems other than the weather.
  6. Mounting panels to round posts...

1" x 1/8" angles on all four corners, top and bottom, of the sign, bolted into the posts. The only thing you'll see is part of the angle and the bolt. Paint 'em and be done with it.
  7. Nothing better than starting off your morning raging a scammer

Interesting that they knew about your employee, though. Did they ask by name? Was it just a lucky guess?
  8. Graphic Standards Manual ...aka?

I received a couple entitled "Brand Identity Guidelines".
  9. How to remove hand-lettering from a sail boat's gel coat

X3. Gel coats are pretty resilient creatures. Make sure you know how to buff and polish, though, or hire a qualified auto detailer who does.
  10. "Crowd Source" design...

If we as an industry, like so many other industries, didn't give clients the option to get speculative work for free, they wouldn't expect it and would have no choice but to hire someone for their time and talent. And therein has always been the problem. The clients I have and get referred to...
  11. "Crowd Source" design...

You summed it up perfectly, Dan. Many of us in the sign industry can't command the dollars (and respect) that you have built so brilliantly. As Kraig mentioned, it's a tough sell to a new client who needs a logo/website/whatever and expects that as part of their signage package. I'm sure most of...
  12. "Crowd Source" design...

I completely agree, Joe. But how many potential clients are willing to pay thousands of dollars for a logo anymore? Damn few, I imagine, when it comes right down to it. How many have come into your office and were actually willing to pay your price without some negotiations? I'm not knocking...
  13. "Crowd Source" design...

I must be in the minority here. Just for kicks I signed up and entered one of the "contests". It's not that I have spare time or don't want to get paid for some time involved in creating a particular logo, I felt it was a good way to stretch some creative muscle and see what happens. And, the...
  14. Break capacities

Ok, more than what I found trying to research it. A good reference point - thanks, jhill!
  15. Break capacities

Thanks, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm well aware that .060 is thicker than 22GA; what I'm asking is if a break that is meant to bend steel will bend the lighter and easier bent aluminum at a thicker gauge?
  16. Break capacities

I figure this would be the appropriate place to put this: I do not do any sheetmetal work sign related at all at my place, but I do need some for hobby projects. I've been looking at various pan breaks (or brakes, depending on your location and/or spelling inclination) and obviously they are all...
  17. learning corel draw

    Lynda.com
  18. PVC Sign Materials

Then you're not telling us everything that you need for this job. A fence company as petros suggested is your best route, or make your own.
  19. What kind of printer for a Vehicle Wrap job?

Holysteel... we're not picking on you. In your profile you have listed that you do billboards and such with a 3.2 meter solvent printer. Obviously you must have some knowledge of the industry and printing, you're just not researching your questions correctly. Gino's right - the guys that know...
  20. What kind of printer for a Vehicle Wrap job?

I think you need to thoroughly read through the threads on printers on this forum before asking basic questions as those. What is available to you in Thailand may not be available or applicable elsewhere. Since you're just starting out, I suggest to find someone in your area that is already...
