  1. another summa issue my maintenance company can't deal with..

If you're using the straightness optimization feature on the printer I'd turn that off and just let the Summa Opus XY do it.
  2. Heat Resistant Vinyl

The stickers on my Akras were metal foil too. No vinyl will stand that kind of heat for very long.
  3. another summa issue my maintenance company can't deal with..

A couple of other things to consider. Some media's liner seems to slip on the rollers making it run out of whack after it gets going. So try another type of vinyl. We also had an issue recently where the cutter couldn't find the rego marks. Seemed that the Winplot Illy plugin was making the...
  4. another summa issue my maintenance company can't deal with..

Is that off a latex printer mate? If so you need to use Opus XY to correct for media heat distortion.

  7. SUMMA T160 print/ cut jobs cutting paths twice

Give your cut objects a fill and no outlne.
  8. How do you save files in Illustrator to open in Onyx Thrive?

Save from Illy to PDF using the Illustrator default settings. This won't jpeg any images or change colour. Use the same profile settings in Thrive as in illustrator. Also to make sure the rip has the right media profiles make sure you turn off auto sync and d/l them manually each time you...
  9. One of the hardest things we've ever wrapped!

Holy moly that looks incredibly time consuming. Nice job and glad you got what you thought it was worth.

  11. HP L25500 - Job Cancelled Message 63.05 (Can't print anything longer than about 4'

From http://www.printcopy.info/?l=en&mod=free&chap=erc&brand=HP&model=DesignJet%20L25500&page=6 "The raster data does not arrive quick enough. The raster data of the job is not arriving quick enough to assure correct printing conditions. If there are pauses, more than 20 seconds, while...
  12. Has anyone found an uncoated paper for the L360?

The cheapo poster paper that runs so well in the 25500s doesn't like the new 360. It buckles, head strikes then if you get the temp/pass rate just right to minimise the cockling you get a strange pattern in solid ink in certain light angles. The HP Photorealistic Poster Paper seems to have the...
  13. Onyx and L360 Cut Contour issues

We gave up on Cutserver and it's mysterious errors. Now we just use Winplot with our Summa cutter and never have an error. File setup does take a little extra - but how much longer does it take to add a Cut layer while you're already in Illy setting up your cut paths?
  14. 3M ControlTac, screen printed with liquid lam?

And this is why I stopped doing installs for other companies. Or if we do, charge a premium. They invariably send us the cheapest crap possible to install for next to nothing. Then if we screw up it's our fault.
  15. Illustrator Cutline Issues

    Offset path?
  16. Newbie - New Zealand

    Gday bro.
  17. Heat transfer onto leather.

I have some friends who make and sell leather motorcycle gear. They have bought a cutter and heat press but have no clue about using the right film for leather. Does anyone have experience or knowledge on a product that works well? Printable or coloured film. Thanks in advance.
  18. S30670 Horrible blotches in prints

Looks like the vinyl is tunneling up. Try turning the heat down a bit or the vacuum up if you can.
  19. How many of you do this.............. ??

Good call Gino. I get busy and normally let them slide. I am going to try and follow up more this year. We usually just email them but you're right a phone call is more effective.
