  1. Why plexiglas instead of aluminum on a site sign?

I have a customer who wants to replace some signs like this. I haven't seen them in person, but based on the photo it looks like acrylic or polycarb with graphics in reverse on the back of the panels. Obviously it's the type of sign that should be designed to be functional and last a long time -...
  2. Mounting prints to aluminium composite... How do you do it?

You're still overthinking it. Just tell the customer that a thin border near the edge of a sign will end up looking uneven on some of the signs, so you would recommend they fix their design. End of story. It's a pretty standard design principle - any designer who has designed a business card...
  3. SC540 Spray pattern wierd

Your lc/lm heads look good. You might consider asking your Roland tech to switch one of them with the black head. We had that done on ours - now we can print crystal clear 8pt text in black instead of crystal clear 8pt text in light cyan.
  4. Need a substrate for....

1mm PVC or .040 polystyrene would be the most common materials for this, I think. A 10-15 mil polyester film like BigFish suggested might be just thick enough to work and you could print direct on ecosol.
  5. Font ID

Looks like an obvious one but I'm blanking on it.
  6. Arched sign brackets needed

This might be a good solution: http://www.vistasystem.com/
  7. Question about pre hemmed banner

I have an XC-540 and have tried this before. There are a number of complications: Your artwork has to have a white background, since you can't print to the edge. You can't print more than maybe 8-12 feet at a time or the material might shift enough that the rollers run over the grommets, which...
  8. You wont be able to find THIS one!

Plenty of fonts predate modern computing.
  9. Banner

Separate the red and blue. They clash when they touch, so they generally need to be separated like in the Pepsi logo.
  10. Need help finding a font

BobCap, the link posted by tikiboyz is correct, but it doesn't have the roses edited in. The edit with the roses was done by Jaguarwoman, who is selling it for $8 at the link below. Also, based on a quick glance at her site, she's relentless at hunting people who pirate her work. I wonder if...
  11. Artwork Numbering

Versaworks also has a handy feature to add serial numbers.
  12. cant find this font.....

It's Helvetica Neue - not sure what "HLOODY+" means. It's $3,476 for the whole family with condensed and expanded on linotype.com, or $87 per weight. Also, this file is only using Helvetica Neue for the bars "|".
  13. Optically Centered?

I would hazard a guess that this refers to the principle that the proper way to centre a line of text vertically on a sign is that the capital letters would be equal distance from the top and bottom. This is correct, as opposed to including tails that hang below the baseline in lowercase...
  14. New Logo for fairly new sign company

If you're on a budget for logo design, you won't get much lower than $800 for quality work. If that's still over budget, I would suggest hiring one of those design contest websites for $200, but for god's sake, DO NOT choose the winner yourself. Post the entries here and get some (free) advice...
  15. Ideas on how to mount vehicle graphics

The logo looks a bit crooked.
  16. Latex Compatible Wall Material

That's a bit of a vague question. Is it indoors or outdoors? Is it drywall or something requiring more conformability, like concrete or brick?
  17. Problem importing to Versaworks

Versaworks has difficulty with complex PDF files, especially when there are transparent images embedded. Watch out for it whenever you get artwork like this from clients, and flatten to TIFF in Photoshop if you need to, as the others mentioned.
  18. What does everyone think of this? Sign Concept...

The original design looks quite professional, with the exception of a few minor points: "Celebrating" and "Years" need to be in the same font, and not stretched out of proportion. That, plus fix the margins so they line up better on the 3 lines of text. Also put "Years" on a white background...
  19. Linda from Avery

    Not really. PM sent.
  20. How to align when contour cutting

Two relevant threads from another user with the same setup as you. Unfortunately I didn't see a solution while briefly skimming the threads. http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?101000-Contour-Cut-Is-Off-Have-New-Cutter...
