  1. Rant about Illustrator

It won't, but careless or wandering mouse pulls can jack up a graphic... more than a few times I have gotten files where the test was 101.234% wider because of careless bounding boxers... Here is how I would select it in Illustrator....
  2. Rant about Illustrator

Thats a no brainer, with area select off, or "select by path" on, you do not encapsulate the whole graphic, just the edges of the inside.... Another thing, I always the "bounding box" off
  3. Rant about Illustrator

It's not a work around, every software varies in their selection behavior. I see your point, but the opposite can be said. The way I select is being able to touch just the edge to select... it's just getting used to that type os selecting, you are still stuck on Corel. I select inside that...
  4. A few samples

Some nice stuff Forge, thanks for sharing... hope to see more.
  5. Rant about Illustrator

You might want to try going to... PREFERENCES> SELECTION & OBJECT DISPLAY>"click on" OBJECT SELECTION BY PATH ONLY. I also have "SNAP TO POINT" on as well....
  6. Pee-Wee's Night Out.

    I needed that... SHOTS!!!
  7. Help with class assignment: Famous Designers?

---Did you print it out full size to check legibility? ---What is up with the orange? ---"HEAD INSTRUCTOR"? ---Not feeling the all lower case....
  9. New Book (I promise, this one is better)

I remember Von was making the transition to Illustrator from Freehand and his frustration with it. It was actually kinda funny because he was really hating Illustrator. I have had the 2 plug-ins he discusses for a while and really work great. I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable Illy...
  10. Business Card / Logo

I am constantly pinching cards off of bulletin boards and have amassed a huge collection. Most are crap or template cards. When discussing business cards with client, I fan out a pile of crap cards and stick in a few well designed ones, and or different cards to show them the difference. That...
  11. Working for free? Not so fast....

i just saw that on my Facebook... Jessica Hische is getting close to my top 10 list of favorite designers, she does beautiful work and I dig her attitude about her work and the business.
  12. What brand name of computer do you use? Just purchased T400 today

I started with PC's. I'm a Mac user, mostly because the last few sign shops and design firms I worked at used Macs, so when I went home to do work, I had the same equipment. Been happy with the service so far. My main computer (MacBookPro) rarely crashes and I sometimes push that computer...
  13. Brain storming for Daycare/School sign...

I would develop the bottom left a little more, not digging the books, maybe because the tiles may make the sign less legible, the blocks have been done a million times in 2D... maybe thats why I am leaning toward that bottom/left one. High praise for drawing out your thumbnails, thanks for...
  14. Business Card / Logo

2-3 bucks a pop does seem a little stiff, but if you are targeting the use, it looks like it has some potential to pay off... I'm not easily impressed, but I dig the idea and execution. Most people spend so little on business cards, yet will gab with a potential client for a half an hour.... I...
  15. Negative Comments, What to do?

My engrish not so good, but I just did a quick peek and there were some odd grammar and sentence structure on your postings... hey, there are a million social networking consultants now.
  16. A few recent logos -

Those are looking good, I totally dig the "Hockey Boss" chin, that guys jawbone can take out 1000 philistines with that thing.

  18. Some interesting wrap projects

    Nice collection of work...
  19. this seems odd to me

A lot of sign people don't know enough to consult for the sign business so having a "business consultant" is probably not gonna give you good advice. We have a marketing consultant for the industry on the site... Jon Aston. You can also ask away here and see what comes from it, I'm sure others...
  20. Simple carved sign
