  1. Logo help, please!

    I didn't know brighter = classy
  2. Logo help, please!

Does it have to have the actual numeral "2" or can it be "Two"? There's something about it I don't like, maybe because it starts the name.
  3. Need a logo critique. Please.

The line weight on your berry looks too thin with that font. Also, instead of a circular berry, why not a raspberry with the individual seeds alternating in color?
  4. Gatorfoam edge finishing tape

The client wants the art all the way to the edge, nothing that looks like a frame. Something like this: http://www.weldoncolorlab.com/edgetapeinfo.php I found and ordered some cloth tape used for hinging foam boards, so we'll see if it works as an edge tape too.
  5. Who wants an invitation to Google Plus?

I'll take one. ecfwho at gmail Thanks!
  6. Gatorfoam edge finishing tape

I searched, but couldn't find a topic about this. We've got a client that wants 1/2" Gatorfoam with finished edges. I've seen this done with a black tape, but what kind of taped is used that sticks to the foam edge? Anyone have a supplier? Utrecht has a bunch of black tapes, but I'm not...
  7. Frost coloured vinyl

I try to stay away from Avery, but if you're cutting anything out of the vinyl I recommend Avery Etchmark over Oracal. Oracal doesn't seem to want to stick to the app tape, or at least it doesn't want to come off that waxy backing paper. I haven't tried 3M though.
  8. Critique time....

Necro-post warning! A search for Abduzeedo brought me to this thread. I remember this one. How did it turn out?
  9. Boat Lettering - Critique

Here's the finished product (finally). It ended up not being painted, just a print on IJ180, applied while hanging upside-down. The more I looked at it after I printed it, the more I was worried about legibility from a distance, but I think it looks just fine.
  10. Want to learn to handpaint?

Bah! Thanks. I guess it just saves me from having to sell them when I also realize I have no time to practice.
  11. Want to learn to handpaint?

    Are these still for sale?
  12. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

Update: The dampers came on Monday. I switched out all on the left channels and it seemed to fix the problem. I did a print and some test draws and then a big print, all with no issue. I noticed the pump for the cyan was still lagging behind the others though, so I suspected the new dampers...
  13. Logo Re-design

    Love it.
  14. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

No, the tubes were switched that entire post
  15. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

JV3 160SP, yes. I switched the magenta and cyan tubes. I powered on and saw the cyan flowing nicely, magenta not so much. I did a test draw and the cyan had a full pattern on both sides. Then I did a 4"x12" print of c,m,y & k rectangles. The test draw after that showed missing black...
  16. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

But if I'm having an issue with the Black and Yellow as well as the Cyan, then would a tube swap even prove anything? Could the pumps (never been replaced, about 6years old) be so worn out that they just aren't overcoming any pre-existing resistance that a new set of pumps would? The pumps...
  17. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

I haven't gotten any bubbles on any of the draws so far, but I'll try again and get someone to listen. Other than that, it sounds like I just have to wait for the dampers to come in.
  18. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

When I move the carriage all the way to the left and look from the bottom, it looks like there is a cap-shaped ink ring on the head. Other than that, how do you check for a good seal?
  19. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

Okay, I swapped the cyan dampers and the problem migrated to the right side, which is good news as far as the head is concerned. When I took the dampers off I noticed that the manifold on the bad side was a little crusty, which might be air in contact with the ink at that area. Hopefully...
  20. Mimaki JV3 - half cyan missing on test print

I'll try that tomorrow morning. Thanks for the suggestions.
