We did a bus a few months back, took about 12 hours for two guys. We used "Bus Art" material & perf on all the windows. I was amazed at how well the Bus Art comes off after a year, took about 45 minutes to strip the bus with two guys.
I'm gonna jump on the Illustrator bandwagon. I've been using it for vectors since '99. I've tried Corel, etc, but never tried to make anything with them; just edit native files then export.
I think the product goes by the name "Event Tape".
Here is a website: http://www.firstflash.com/eventtape.html
Been a couple years since I've quoted it.
Radio stations are what I've seen using it.
I would definitely call the (mutual?) customer to inform them of your competition's business practices, just in case they have sent a revised quote to them.
Here's another vote for IJ35c.
It is a GREAT product for short-term signage.
I have used it on customers vehicles (NOT as a wrap) without any issues. Still looks like new a year later. (yes, they understood it is a 2-3 year vinyl)
Also, I guess I am overpaying at $190/roll.
Just manually cleaned it two weeks ago, still have plenty of swabs/solution. I will clean it again this morning just to be safe.
I've never seen the edge of banner material curl (although it humps all the time!!!) & never used the smoother. Do you use it on all materials or just banner?
I like 3M yellow "Automotive Refinish Masking Tape" but my installer swears by the 3M Blue Painters Tape. We buy the yellow tape by the "sleeve" in our paint/body shop (from Smyth IIRC) & he buys his blue tape from Wallyworld.
It's kind of like vinyl, find one you like & stick with it. We...
The little black media smoother that is close to the right side of the printer occasionally seems to be contacting with my print head. I haven't had any problem resulting from it, but I just wanted to see if there was any reason that I should NOT take it out of the printer for "just in case"...
The banners are never going to last that long, they just aren't designed to.
However, most of these banners are "seasonal" so they only hang the set of banners you are quoting for ~3 months at a time every year. Then they take them down & store them until the next year when they re-use them for...
Possibly the wrong blade holder was given when you picked up the machine?
Post up a picture of the blade holder installed and sitting in the "home" position.
When it is supposed to be cutting, does the blade plunge downward?
We usually try to put them on the outside of the window whenever possible.
In most instances where we have installed on the inside of the window it was due to the constraints of the local sign ordinances when the company is already at its maximum sf allowance for exterior signage or exterior...
