  1. Need Help Machining contour elevation paths on a CNC router

that looks AWESOME! the layering effect is making me dizzy but I can't stop staring at it
  2. Masking for vinyl and solvent based paint

i use oracal paint mask & mathews paint all the time, no issues. possible you're coating it too hot&heavy? paint mask resists solvents, but the perimeter is the weak spot.... its like having clogged gutters, a little rain is no big deal but a heavy downpour and suddenly your basement is leaking.
  3. Price check on a 19' x 12' lighted cabinet

+1, i'd build it onsite if possible.
  4. News So Long Latex 792 and LX610 Inks...

i've been singing HP's praises, ever since I made the jump from mimaki solvent to HP latex..... even made a post yesterday about it. Kick in the pants for sure, but guess I saw this coming after they dc'd the 250 series' support last year even though I was secretly hoping it wouldn't be so soon...
  5. So, this just happened...

    that's no bee!
  6. Need Help Machining contour elevation paths on a CNC router

I'm currently learning the software as well.... the tutorial video option is awesome, but I definitely wish there was a bigger library of start-to-finish job applications. if you want it to "fill" along the path, instead of traveling only across the x or y axis, use an island fill. both...
  7. Discussion cut or not to cut- vinyl and trailer panels

+1 cut it. the failure from shifting panels looks a LOT worse than a little edge-curl or "gap" in the graphic.
  8. Need Help Machining contour elevation paths on a CNC router

unless you have a toolbit that has the profile of the waterdroplet "waves", you wouldn't be able to do this manually by setting an engrave path to offsetting circular lines.... but if you did, then you could just set those engrave paths at increasing depths. to accomplis this, most people have...
  9. backlit adhesive film

cast is always nice, i use the arlon6500 as well. But I've been known to slum-it with cheap trans. on occasion :) good options include fellers' solvexTV (which i think has a tint of yellow/offwhite to it) and grimco's briteline trans. Have used both in the past without issue.
  10. What do you suppose is causing this issue?

aye that just looks like contamination of sorts. $5 says you've "cleaned" the capping station & replaced the wiper BUT inside of the wiper station you've got some gummy bears wiping their butts on your wiper blade.
  11. What do you suppose is causing this issue?

could be a blurry photo, but looks like your magenta is out of alignment as well.
  12. Suggestions BIG CHECKS

its not the same laminate as every laminate ever, but its close..... while you can most likely make misc. overlaminates "work", a glossy Polypropylene/polyester film has the best properties to not allowing dryerase markers to bind/absorb into/onto the surface.
  13. Question Removing Unauthorized Cabinets?

if they own the property, they can do what they want as long as it isn't contradicted in the terms of their leasing contracts. I don't agree that it is good business practice, however, destroying your tenants' property without at least fair-warning... if you do go this route, at least make sure...
  14. Print on clear for lighted application

sounds like he's just double striking the ink, to make up for it being washed-out when illuminated. ...which is unacceptable. for a proper illuminated graphic, you need two layers of ink with a translucent white "buffer" between them. this can be done by a printer with white capabilities, that...
  15. Print on clear for lighted application

explain the context of "appear as they do". either it looks like your image, or it doesn't...des the image illuminate as it should, or is it washed-out?
  16. Need feedback on a sign from the experts

aww nuts, wishful thinking i guess. labor to clean might not be worth the effort. I definitely wouldn't trust simply taping a panel onto a panel as a long-term fix. coroplast should slide into the frame in its place, if you're looking for cheap/temporary. ...but a new acm panel doesn't cost...
  17. Need feedback on a sign from the experts

does the panel come out of the frame? you might be able to just apply a new graphic to the backside and save yourself some substrate costs?
  18. CNC Routing Max Metal

+1 trial&error, but it doesn't take much to dial-in the depth needed to engrave through the first two layers of metal/plastic & leave the final layer of metal unscathed if not lightly scored.
  19. Need Help Dirts on first piece

been using the printer for years? sounds like there's dust collection on the internals, that are kicked-up by the movement of the printhead/blower. might be worth getting in there with a vacuum dust cloth.
  20. Two Sided Vinyl Printing

HP's have always had a user-friendly double-sided printing option, however I'm uncertain of the tolerances. I'm sure there's a wide format printer dealer in your area that has one running in their showroom, for you to observe/test. edited to add: I run a 26500 latex, love it. Saw their new...
