I got this in the mail today, probably cause I attended SGIA this year. I've never heard of this so I was wondering if anyone has attended in the past and whether or not its any different/better than SGIA.

I notice that marketing material often uses square feet per month as a reference point on which printer to buy such as this chart here:

It also seems to be used as a shorthand for how much wear and tear a...
This is just a thread of 3D Printing guides that I've come across that I think are applicable to signmaking. I'm not a signmaker so this is just my best guess, but if you're interested in the technology for your business, some of this might be helpful.

I've been trying to figure out if I can use the "Made in USA" label, but I'm not sure its even possible given the supply chain ecosystem.
For example the ink for HP Latex all says Singapore. If one day I can buy from STS ink or something, then that would actually be more "American" than the...
I need empty 3" ID cores to act as take-up reels. I called my media suppliers and none of them have them. Is there anywhere else I can get these? The ones advertised for shipping have walls that are too thin.
Does anyone know an affordable air quality monitor sensor that can detect outgassing from vinyl banners? Our HP Latex creates very strong fumes because of the high curing temperature required, and we are planning to get some industrial air scrubbers. But I want to make sure its doing a good...
Has anyone ever received a 831A ink cartridge that was dated to expire well in advance of the box? This was a new cartridge and the box was unopened, so I don't believe it was tampered with. But the box says 2020 and the cartridge says 2019 and is already expired.
According to this video, the printheads with problems are the ones with long strings of letters after them in the printer data page.
However my printer data page shows long strings of text after the printheads that are practically brand new. I know new printheads can fail, but to have 3 of...
We're starting a company that prints window coverings and will eventually want to hire someone with experience in wide format printing. We want someone who knows how to run and maintain the printers, prep files, improve our processes, and do some manual cutting as well. We currently have a used...
I received a sample roll of media from our supplier that isn't attached to a roll. I wrapped it around a spare core I had but I had to center it since I'm doing this by hand, which resulted in 4-5 inches of exposed core on each side. The material is a mesh with a liner, so I would think that the...
Has anyone figured out more or less how much printing can be done before the ink collector needs to be rinsed out?
And is there a recommended procedure for rinsing it? I find it easier right after running the printer before the ink has a chance to dry, but it doesnt just flow off either. I...
If I wanted to switch to a new printhead for overnight printing so that there's minimal chance that it will have errors and I won't be around to catch it, then whats the best way to store the used one? I saw one HP video about cleaning it with distilled water, so would putting it in a tupperware...
Does anyone happen to know how cheap ink could potentially get with the giant semi-truck sized printers? I read one review somewhere saying one of the giant EFI models was 4 cents / sq ft, but I can't imagine what the quality looks like. By comparison, the super giant Latex 3000+ is about 8.5...
I have a HP Latex 560 with Onyx 12.1. I was able to find a 10 pass profile for my material but that's it. I would like to be able to do some test prints with various numbers of passes to see how the print quality changes. Is this a setting I toggle in Onyx? I can't seem to find where it is. Is...
I once saw a video (can't seem to find it now) where someone used a crowbar looking thing to pull the roll of media from within the cardboard tube it shipped in. Does anyone know what this product is and where to get it? That or something comparable? Foster seems to have a lot of stuff that...
When we bought our printer used, it came with a license of Onyx 12.1. I don't much like the UI, but I've gotten satisfactory prints from it. I'm currently going through youtube videos and their online documentary to figure out how to use the program to its fullest. Their self-help resources are...
I feel like this is a newbie question, but is it a good idea to nest images edge to edge so that one cut will basically serve as two? I find it difficult to cut off the sliver of space between images and increasing that will mean more wasted substrate. This is using a roll to roll printer.
We are looking at buying one of the 64" Latex printers from HP and we were thinking about getting a UPS for it as well. It's more to protect it from brownouts than anything, but the HP rep I called said it's not needed and that they recommend we don't use a UPS at all. I thought this was strange...
I've been looking for a wide format printer (54" min) that has both a mesh kit (AKA ink collector) and white ink for outdoor prints. So far I've only been able to find one or the other. HP Latex has mesh kit but no white, and Mimaki UV/Roland UV have white but no mesh kit.
The only printers...
