  3. Cut Vinyl vs. Printing

Like has been said, depends on the job. Cut vinyl usually lasts much longer that printed for exterior applications. I can't believe that I now sell cut vinyl as the "old fashioned" method.
  4. Designing for signs

Totally agree with Rick "you can be taught the principles of design and drawing enough to service the needs of most of our clients... only a select few have been sprinkled with magic dust..." I did go to sign school, not art school, where you were taught brush skill and sign design. But that was...
  5. Designing for signs

  7. Process Pro Black VS Black on gerber edge?

I have used process black as a substitute for regular black in a pinch. If you're concerned about longevity do a double hit. We frogjuice everything that goes outside.
  8. Alcohol may have damaged paint - looking for suggestions

  9. Just finished this sign today

I took a look, thought nice sign, shame they didn't paint the wall first and moved on...till I just read Rick's post. The letters are clearly messed up exactly how he has shown, and you can see it in the pic of them on the ground. The Y is obviously thicker and you can see the center of the P is...

Looks good, materials should be fine.
  11. Sign Mounting on Metal Wall

I'd use an ACM panel, probably on a 1x1 Tube frame, then mount with clips. Beware, those panels could be steel, even porcelainized steel, which can be a bear to drill in.
  12. Please help - where can I get 2nd surface printed acrylic??

I agree about asking Wyld. If not the reverse vinyl is a good option

  15. Hanging window sign

    I agree, sub them out
  16. Materials for this sign? Foam, wood or PVC?

Gatorfoam painted white may be fine by itself. If you want heavier use 1/2" white PVC. You are going to use LEDS that look like little lightbulbs?
  17. Looking for ideas for mounting and framing a 4x16 alumaboard store front sign

We would make a separate raised molding from .040 alum and often add a piece of 1/4 round molding inside the raised molding.
  18. PVC Directory sign panels

I may switch to ACM for the tenant panels, but have to stick with the 1" pvc background. So I guess my best option for fastening the panels is thru bolts.
  19. Hand Carved Signs

Beautiful work Philip. I think you may find a good market for small panels like these
