I think SpeedPress sent me a mat that was too old to heal. After 6 mos it still fails to lay flat on the ends, cuts get bigger and do not "heal" and the mat seems brittle compared to previous mats. Will switch vendors next time and not go back to SpeedPress.

The unactivated adhesive will dry out on the stored vinyl and it will shrink and not stick is the simple answer. The applied life of the vinyl is different and you can expect the various advertised lifespans you quoted to be close to reality.

I'd dump all that expired vinyl in the trash can before you sell something and it falls off before you get down the road. If you want to make $500 a month starting out, charge $250 a job.

I'd seriously look into buying when you get down there, buying here may work but you may still have to pay import fees going in with the equipment. South America has a strong digital printing industry, established dealers and used equipment. It's not a backward uncivilized place, like Detroit...

I see a lot of really bad layouts on signs and other types of print communication. Ohio Highway Dept printed 10,000 banners to remind people to "Buckle Up" .. Printed red letters on dark blue. Must have looked good "on the screen" but red and blue are both dark colors and the damn banners are...

Try reseating the lm cartridge, if you can reseat it with the machine running then it had a bad connection to the supply pick up in the back ( open door and check for ink). If it's tight, turn off and then reseat. Might also clean the output valve with water and check the contacts too. Still...
