  1. Good T-shirt material for a Latex (not sublimation printer)??

I'm trying to get into T-shirt production. I'm finding most of the materials made for latex printers is pretty pricy. Anyone out there know a good reliable and cheap material for this? I have a HP latex 54" printer and would be using an endura press for the transfer.
  2. Printing substrate sample kits?

I did. I had some luck, but most manufacturers just send individual samples, not a comprehensive book
  3. Printing substrate sample kits?

YES!!! Those are awesome. Do you sell them or have a resource for one? '
  4. Printing substrate sample kits?

Anyone know of a way to get a sample booklet of printing substrates? I am new to this and want to inspect my options and so do my customers. I am surprised that Fellers and my local distributors do not sell or have sample kits. (like they do for cutting vinyls). Any help or leads on this...
  5. What is this material?

I just got a reuqest to install some self adhesive vinyl. When I asked the client for the name of the material they told me it was: PVC free Vinyl which passes Type II, ASTM F793 & ASTM E 84² Any ideas what this is?
  6. On garbage cans, print or cut lettering?

I got a job to letter the tops of 120 garbage cans. The tops are contour cut for paper, cans, and trash. They are also aluminum coated with some sort of smooth poly perfect for adhesion. My thinking is cut lettering will get dirty and hard to clean on the edges of the letters once they start...
  7. Signmaking is territorial, and that can hurt

I worked my butt off for my largest customer for 3 years. A museum. 4 months ago the department I work directly for said "your great we want you to do everything for us now". Then a new director came in and brought with them another sign company. Now I have to bid on every job and this other...
  8. Color correction? Yes or No on a HP 315 printer

I have noticed that Flexi has a "color correction" box you can check in the production manager. When I check it, it totally changes the colors. With photographs for the better, with any graphics though the colors are way off and generally match the screen, but not their Pantone or correct...

AMEN, east coast represent. all those trade show companies got the scratch to have gold plated booths. time to pay back the signs shops up here that are probably a huge portion of their profits.
  10. Summa S160 T problems (axis errors, problems starting up).

I bought a summa last year. The machine arrived defective. Could not cut o's and lopsided most of my letters. Also could not track past 3 feet without spooling material off the rollers. I got those axis errors too, but that was the least of my worries as it simply could not cut. Had to replace...
  11. RapidTac RAPID REMOVER

I've used 3 different types. Rapid tac worked best. However someone once suggested butter, yes butter, and it actually does get rid of about 70% of adhesive, making a wd40 or goof off cleaner good for the rest. key is to have a good plastic scraper to scoop up all the gunk once it gets loosened.
  12. How do you get chain stores as clients?

I've approached just about every type of business I feel qualified to serve for potential business. When I approached Starbucks, Subway, H and M and other chain stores I get the response, "you have to go through corporate" After following through a bit, that lead seemed colder than an ice so I...
  13. HP 315 black ink not drying

This is really helpful. Thank you. One question though, doesn't the pass count mean more ink? I understand how this slows the drying time down, but doesn't it compound the issue with more ink? I have heard inter delay pass can also help, but have had no luck finding that on the menu either...
  14. HP 315 black ink not drying

What is the best way to increase heat? Do I need to clone a profile to do that? When I try to do it directly on the profile it is greyed out and won't let me. IS there a video that goes over how to do this? I have not found one.
  15. HP 315 black ink not drying

I have been having drying issues with my blank ink on my HP 315. It does not completely dry in the most saturated parts. Yesterday I printed on the static cling. It was an image with a lot of saturated black ink. The black ink did not completely dry. This has happened with black and white...
  16. How does a signmaker take a vacation?

Thanks for the replies. It's good to get some reassurance I am not alone in this quandary. In the end, I am going to go to Florida for a week of July 4. I got a part timer to cover me, and what will be what will be.
  17. Can you latex print on Oracal 651?

I noticed that Oracal 651 (cad cutting vinyl) has a printability spec in their spec sheet. It says :thermal print capable. I am wondering does this mean I can run it through my HP 315 latex printer? I've got tons of this stuff for lettering but wondering if this is something that people have...
  18. Proofing Software, APP or plugin?

Anyone out there use a reliable proofing software? In other words a app, plugin or software that measures and displays measurements of a pdf or Ai file for customers to see what they are asking for? I have been doing this manually for years and it takes some time to do, now that I am getting...

Prints great, and weeds like as you said BUTTER! It's also $110 for a 50 yd roll by 54". very nice stuff. If you order from S anf...
  20. How does a signmaker take a vacation?

I've been in the buisness for many years. Getting away is always a problem. I have people to man the shop, but if a big job comes in from a whale client I either have to go back or spend most of my time on the phone. I don't want to decline jobs because that just lets in the competition to my...
