I am wondering from those that have this printer, if you would recommend it to someone? I am considering getting one and just curious of the pros/cons of those using them? Any advice, hits, tips, etc. are appreciated.
I guess I haven't noticed that it teared any easier than any other reflective that I have used. They all seemed about the same to me. I have used KAPCO and 3M, other than now using Nikkalite. From what I was told, they are in the development process of making a version with an air release liner...
the attachments that go inside are metal, it has a felt/banner material construction and there is velcro you attach under the heater where the media comes out. So they are locked in place. They actually worked compared to the old style.
I had issues with 2 sided banner material sticking under...
If you don't need air egress, go with Nikkalite!! Amazing product and the price is actually decent! Call and talk to George, (562)777-1810 x13, He will treat you right.
I know when I had mine there was a redesign on the platen guard that was a free upgrade under warranty. I don't remember the loading accessory ever being updated.
Mehler textiles has some awesome banner materials! They are more on the higher end. Price isn't too bad, but shipping adds up quick. Let me know if you need a contact.
Th heat assist will help with the "silver ink" compare to a cold laminator. Although it won't be perfect. I would definitely get one again. Look at the US Tech laminators. You can't go wrong for the money. I got mine from www.bestdgi.com. Dave there was great to work with!
I use caldera and love this option. I run full rolls of labels through with the barcode option almost everyday. It's nice to hit cut once, then have it run through a whole 150' roll on its own!
I tend to play around with my equipment and always trying to see what else they can do!
I wouldn't worry about maintenance on the S80 at all. There isn't much to do at all!! Once a month I clean around the heads and cap tops. If anything, just run a nozzle check everyday. I save small scrap pieces to do this on.
I went from a 360 to an Epson S70 and now have a S80 too. I love the Epson as print quality was my top priority. But, I will say the latex is a lot better on fabric type materials. I do still do wall coverings (dreamscape) and canvas (satin or gloss finish) all of the time with my Epson. I would...
Summa tangential all the way!! I went from the SummaCut to the T-Series and there is definitely a reason the tangential costs about twice as much! You definitely get what you pay for there!!
I like the HD bars from Dick Blick. For the larger sizes, they have pieces that will join 2 bars together. Then just using the appropriate amount of cross braces. Always works great for me.
