  1. Verbiage help?

I agree about not wanting to be a copyrighter, and I usually don't make suggestions unless the client is asking for the dreaded "& more!" But sometimes you just have to. In this case, I am glad I asked for help. Client was open to suggestions. :thankyou::signs101:
  2. Verbiage help?

hahahaha :ROFLMAO: I will mention this to him when he picks up his cards.
  3. Sign in progress...

Nice and simple...just the way I like it. Love...Jill
  4. Update for those that know me.

You should be so proud of Jess. Obviously, she was raised right. I hope her gift lasts until you are really, really old. Love you! Jill
  5. Verbiage help?

Thank you. And thanks for the help. While I had no problem with selling or drawing this up...I just could not make the phrasing work. Guy has been a dream to deal with. Not 100% in love with the white highlight on the name but it's not like that in the logo, I was just trying to dress it up...
  6. Where to purchase Extira?

Make sure to get a truss from the drug store when you plan to buy Extira. It's heavy as hell. I've used it (was given a free sample years ago) Paint doesn't want to stick to it, it makes a mess to cut, and like I said, it's a real nut-buster. It does hold up...but to me, it was not worth the...
  7. Verbiage help?

Here's how it looks. This logo package was sold entirely because of Dan Antonelli's new book. I had it with ampersands but the guy wanted dots. It looks better with them. I blacked out his contact info but the cards won't have that haha.
  8. Last batch before I leave the trade.

Knowing what I know now, I would say that your best bet is to get a "real" job. One with regular pay, benefits, some sort of retirement package. You can still do what you want with signs on the side. That's what I would tell anyone, not to be Little Mary Sunshine or anything. :smile...
  9. Verbiage help?

I think Gino's version might work best. I will give it a try. With the redundancy, I agree about changing things up but I didn't know the best way. Thank you. Card is more than likely going to be a horizontal layout.
  10. Printwear Magazine

Nice! Couldn't have happened to a more dedicated soul. Love....Jill
  11. Verbiage help?

This is a copy-n-paste straight from the client's email: For use on a business card. He knows it's too wordy, and so do I. But for the life of me I can't think of a better way to phrase his laundry list. For someone who does bus and truck repairs and motorcoach modifications. I think the...
  12. Last batch before I leave the trade.

To explain my comment, to hansman, I would say that I'm probably not alone in my feeling that a trade which once took years to perfect, where you were known by your distinctive style, where what you did was an art form, is now pretty much long dead. If you can buy a cutter, you can make...
  13. 1Shot on vinyl? OK or No K?

If it's just the border, I would mask off the part to be painted (a good 2" mask over the vinyl you want to have exposed) very lightly Scotchbrite it and clean with 90% alcohol then paint. I had used 1S since 1985 and loved it until about 2007. They were good to me, donated tons of paint to...
  14. Shafted on a quote, what to do?

I would also let it go. It's not worth the time and effort as well as angst on your part. Customer loyalty died out about 10 years ago, now the only thing 99% of potential clients care about is price. Be glad you are still the only sign person in town....for now. If these people ever do call...
  15. Am I the crazy one?

I think your proof was just fine. Most doors like that are 36" wide. Maybe you could have added dimensions, but that is pretty basic stuff. I like Tammie's idea of putting an actual size letter on the proof. People sometimes just don't realize things that most sign people can comprehend in...
  16. Why is Oracal white vinyl so hard to weed?

I have never had a problem weeding white oracal. I love the blue backing paper. Sometimes I need to add more force with silver metallic. Love....Jill
  17. Need some help/advice on a storefront sign

The spacing is definitely in need of help. I'd be more inclined to not break it up into panels, and also mention the fact that you do industrial screenprinting. You don't want people coming in pestering you for T shirts. You could also break it into a 2'x16' rectangle if space would allow for...
  18. Happy New Year!

Happy new year to you, Fred. :loveya: Love....Jill
  19. Looking for a school logo

Our school district is the Mars Planets. It's a big M with a planet on one side, which I think was stolen from the local bank logo. No one has ever been able to provide me with a clean file. I built one myself for the one time every couple years that someone actually contacts me to make a sign...
  20. Ya win some... and ya lose some......................................

Unfortunately, most customers refuse to listen to good advice. Particularly those who let their wife "design" their nasty logo. Love....Jill
