  1. Mimaki CJV30 ink cartridge not empty

Large amounts of ink left in the ink cartridge usually means your maintenance station is not working 100%. As stated above, the chips only guess at how much ink is being used. If the machine isn't pulling enough ink when doing cleaning cycles, it will leave you with a cartridge that thinks it's...
  2. Opening a sign shop

Don't sign the non-compete but as stated above, even if you do it isn't enforceable in most cases. It sounds like you have the skills and know how to do it. Might as well try it out.
  3. Mimaki JV150-160 Weird Banding Issue

When was the last time you changed your dampers? If they are the originals, you should replace them as they wear out over time and the filters clog which causes poor ink flow and will cause intermittent banding like you are getting. If they are fresh dampers the next thing to look at would be to...
  4. Need Help JV33 Print Head error

Yes you need to have a head with the chip on it for this model. The head you bought is not an OEM head so if they told you it was, you should probably call them out on it. In most cases you can just take the memory off the old head and put it on the new one but it is possible that the head is...
  5. Mutoh 1624 Help

You probably need new pinch rollers. If heat settings and vacuum settings don't stop the bucking, it's either a material issue or pinch roller issue.
  6. Need Help sp 540v problems

I mis-typed. It isn't in the service mode. You have to hold down the left, up and right arrows while powering on to do the limit position.
  7. Need Help sp 540v problems

You need to run the limit position initialization. That should fix the issue. It's in service mode and is described in the service manual if you have one.
  8. Rasterlink 6, where is "high speed print" option

It's in the profile section under "Scan Speed" You can change it there to normal or fast.
  9. Help... Cutting issue Roland GX-24

Perforated cuts are usually caused by a bad cut protection strip. It could also be a bad blade holder. You can purchase both at RolandDGA.com.
  10. Mimaki CJV30-160 Not Printing two colors

If you haven't changed the cap top, wiper and dampers in 4 years, you should just change all of it. Those are maintenance items that go bad after a while and will definitely cause this issue. Also, while you are in there, you might as well flush the pump tubes to make sure they aren't clogged...
  11. I need a good analogy

Or try to make a circle with 4 pixels. No matter what, it will never look like a circle. It will always be some sort of diamond shape. Now double the pixels and it still doesn't look like a circle but it looks a lot closer. Now keep doubling over and over again and at some point you can't tell...
  12. Mimaki JV3 bad ink chip?

Either the chip is bad or your pack end sensor is malfunctioning. If the second chip doesn't work, it's most likely the sensor. Also, we work on machines in the field and when we hear a customer is using 20/20 inks we tell them we won't work on it until they change to another ink.
  13. Rasterlink Pro5 SG is eating my hard drive

Over time Rasterlink 5 had a tendency to glitch out especially when it came to the file system. You can upgrade to Rasterlink 6 for free and it is much less buggy.
  14. Need Help clarity trouble

After changing a head you have to run alignments. The two main ones are the head slant and drop position correction. If you didn't, that will make your prints look grainy and unfocused. Unfortunately, in my experience, the ES3 inks are always grainier than the SS21s and they will have much worse...
  15. Rasterlink Pro5 SG is eating my hard drive

If you right click on the job you can delete the RIP data only and still keep the job in the list. That will cut down on the space used. Then go into the settings and change it so that it doesn't save the RIPed data after printing and it won't save those files. This will mean the job has to be...
  16. But really...how long or how to test?

As mentioned, there is a shelf life for most vinyl but usually it is still usable after that date. It will just become more brittle which is harder to weed and may not have as long of an outdoor durability.
  17. Mutoh VJ1624 flushing pad fit GS6000??

Splatter in the maintenance area usually means the wiper is too stiff, which can happen with 3rd party wipers, and/or the little ramp that is next to the print head that allows the wiper to smoothly move up rather than flick is not on there anymore.
  18. Mutoh VJ1624 flushing pad fit GS6000??

You can put anything in there that will absorb the ink but also not let it splash back onto the head. That's why they are a hard type of sponge but also very porous. I have heard of people using cut to size maxi pads even.
  19. Pink banding on Roland SP-540i

The encoder in the feed motor could be malfunctioning. Especially if it is happening at a regular interval. Sometimes you can tell if it is bad by just scrolling the media forward and listening to it carefully. If it makes a thumping noise and the media seems to skip every once in a while, it's...
  20. increase heat setting roland ex 540

Maybe you are overthinking it but there is a button on the heater control unit that is an up arrow. That button raises the temperature.
