    I did that with a Mutoh 1624 and a box truck(-w- a lift gate) - no issues. I locked the head and removed the ink carts. Taking it off the stand would have made it more difficult to get through the front glass doors.

    Make them out of one of those lightweight poly/aluma skinned panels - put a small 'U' channel extrusion on the backside, top & bottom, so they can slide it on and off. Would have to check for clearance on the pole but there is usually a small offset.

    If the above advice does not help: Are you using the takeup reel? If you are try printing without it. If it works then - you might need to square up the take-up or change the way you tape up the media.
