  1. Mutoh Valuejet Spit Pads

I still get these on my doorstep twice a year. Why won't they die!
  2. thoughts on non-oem ecosol ink?

It's like when you give someone a piece of your mind except you used the wrong word when writing a comment on the internet!
  3. Mutoh Valuejet Spit Pads

I have seen some people leave it in a phone book overnight to flatten and dry out as well.
  4. thoughts on non-oem ecosol ink?

As a tech who works in the field I can tell you that at least 40% of people are using aftermarket inks and I would not be surprised if it was higher than 50%. I even have guys who go straight to 3rd party and void their warranty on day one because they want to save money on the ink so badly...
  5. CJV 30-130 Magenta Nozzle Issue

I am looking into my crystal ball and I predict the magenta channel that is not firing is the one on the left? As the CJV30s have aged, the slider that the cap top sits in tends to wear out and make it so the cap doesn't quite line up perfectly anymore. Usually the left magenta channel is the...
  6. To laminate or not to laminate?

Are you me? I have always sucked at it for some reason. That's why I fix the machines instead of use them now!
  7. To laminate or not to laminate?

I would let the customer decide. Give them two prices. The 4 year price is $$$ and the 8 year price is $$$$.
  8. Roland xc-540 Head Issues (registration issues solved...sort of)

Exactly. The bottom one holds the black head in place.
  9. Roland xc-540 Head Issues (registration issues solved...sort of)

Yeah sometimes when you change all of the heads you run into this issue. If you can't get the cyan to go any lower, you might as well move the black head. It's just a pain in the butt because you will have to go back and re-do vertical on the other heads.
  10. Need Help JFX200 UV Lamp Temp High

Either your coolant is low or not flowing properly. As stated above, if distilled water wasn't used to mix the coolant, you may have clogged the coolant lines. Go to the back of the machine. On the back of the non-head side there is a little door you can open and check your coolant level. Red is...
  11. Mutoh Valuejet Spit Pads

We sell the OEM ones and I do agree $36 for 5 tiny sponges is a lot. I always use OEM as a dealer but I have heard some people use custom cut to size feminine hygiene products. Basically, as long as it is able to absorb the ink, doesn't expand, and doesn't allow ink to splash back up on to the...
  12. Roland xc-540 Head Issues (registration issues solved...sort of)

When doing the alignments, all heads are aligned to the black head. The black head has an extra screw that holds it in place so it shouldn't move. If the Cyan is not moving it could be a couple things. The most obvious one is you have to loosen the 3 head screws for it to move. If those are...
  13. Need Help ValueJet 1324x

Ah that explains it. Those are great machines and ink but in the deal Avery made With Mutoh to re-brand their machines, Avery decided to contract Bell and Howell to do the service work. I don't want to bash them too much because they are a company that works on many different machines in...
  14. 2 Pass Bad for Print Head?

The printer is designed so that the head always receives a voltage within an acceptable range. If the voltage goes too high, a fuse will blow. So basically, there is no way to fry a head via a profile setting in the RIP. The printer has built in protections.
  15. Need Help ValueJet 1324x

Ink drop out during the print is almost always a damper issue. Did the tech change the dampers and o-rings with the head? If not, that is where I would start. Honestly, if he didn't go straight to the dampers to fix the issue in the first place, I would question his motive to go straight to...
  16. Need Help Roland VS-540i cutting issue

The above suggestions a good to go with. I would add that maybe your cut protection strip has a gash in it which is causing the blade to bounce when cutting. It may not be the issue but it is a possibility. I have never seen it that bad.
  17. Ink configuration

There is no physical difference between the configurations. It's just a firmware setting. I have never changed that specific model over to another configuration but most printers require you to go into the parameters and change a setting there to change over. Usually there isn't a menu item for...
  18. Question Roland SP300V Service Mode

Front power off, back power on. Press these keys in order: Down, Right, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left and then press and hold left, down and right at the same time while powering on the front power switch. You have about 5 seconds to get that all in so it may take a couple tries.
  19. mimaki cjv30-130 not reading registration marks

Make sure to make the crop marks a big as the software recommends. The longer the print, the bigger the marks have to be. Basically, if you are using the same size mark on the 20 foot jobs as the 20 inch jobs, it's going to miss the mark completely. The bigger mark gives the sensor more room to...
  20. Need Help HELP E074 err Current Cr and Bands

Try taking the long top cover off of the machine and run a print that way. If it works, your CR cables need to be changed or just run without the cover on as long as you can.
